Director of Quality and Hygiene - Manufacturing Excellence

Overview of the Role

You'll be the site's quality champion, working with trusted brands in laundry care, home care, and personal care products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and implement site short-term and long-term strategic plans for Quality and Hygiene Systems across the manufacturing facility
  • Serve as Site Lead and Subject Matter Expert in Quality, implementing Zero Defect thinking and quality excellence in a large-scale manufacturing environment
  • Act as primary site contact for external customer quality audits, including developing and executing comprehensive action plans based on audit findings
  • Lead implementation and oversight of integrated ISO management systems, ensuring full compliance and continuous improvement
  • Develop and maintain the plant's capability to successfully host external audits by customers, third-party audit companies, and regulatory agencies without business disruption
  • Design, develop, and continuously improve facility standards, quality methods, practices, and tools to drive operational excellence
  • Provide technical assistance to R&D, Purchasing, Engineering, and Manufacturing departments for new product initiatives and process improvements
  • Ensure hygiene capability is developed and maintained within the plant, working closely with plant hygienist and cross-functional teams
  • Develop and lead site internal audit program to identify opportunities and drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • Provide both proactive and reactive input on potential or existing quality issues to resolve problems and prevent recurrence

Required Skills & Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Quality Management, Industrial Engineering, Food Science, Chemistry, or related technical field
  • 10+ years of professional experience in quality management and operations
  • Proven experience as site manager of Quality, Hygiene, or both functions in a manufacturing environment
  • Working knowledge of Quality fundamentals, principles, and core tools (Six Sigma, Lean, SPC, FMEA, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of ISO management systems and regulatory requirements for consumer products
  • Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement through process mapping, root cause analysis, and problem-solving methodologies
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with strong written, verbal, and presentation communication abilities
  • Experience managing external audits and regulatory inspections

Preferred:

  • Quality certifications (ASQ CQE, CQM, Six Sigma Black Belt, or similar professional certifications)
  • Experience with consumer products manufacturing, particularly in laundry care, home care, or personal care industries
  • Advanced degree in related field (MS, MBA)
  • Experience implementing Quality 4.0 and digital quality systems
  • Knowledge of FDA, EPA, or other relevant regulatory frameworks
