Job Description:

Construction BESS Superintendent

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Construction BESS Superintendent to lead field construction activities for a utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project. This contract role places you at the center of mechanical and electrical installation, quality assurance, safety compliance, and EPC contractor coordination. You will serve as the primary field representative, ensuring every phase of construction meets rigorous engineering specifications, codes, standards, and commissioning requirements.

Reporting to the onsite Construction Manager, you will orchestrate daily activities among EPC contractors, subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, and project stakeholders. If you thrive in a fast-paced, safety-first environment and have deep expertise in BESS or similar energy infrastructure, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct all field construction activities for utility-scale BESS projects, maintaining a relentless focus on safety, quality, and schedule adherence.
  • Oversee mechanical and electrical installation, ensuring work aligns with engineering drawings, project specifications, and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Lead QA/QC inspections and safety compliance reviews, promptly addressing non-conformances and driving continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate daily with EPC contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and third-party inspectors to resolve field issues and maintain seamless workflow.
  • Verify that all construction execution meets applicable codes, standards, and commissioning prerequisites.
  • Manage commissioning support activities, facilitating a smooth transition from construction to operational readiness.
  • Serve as the onsite liaison between field teams and the Construction Manager, providing clear progress updates and escalating critical risks.

Required Qualifications

  • 6–10 years of progressive experience as a Construction Superintendent or Contract Coordinator on large-scale energy or industrial projects.
  • Demonstrated expertise in utility-scale BESS projects, including mechanical and electrical installation and QA/QC processes.
  • Strong knowledge of safety compliance protocols and EPC contractor coordination.
  • Valid driver's license with no alcohol- or drug-related driving offenses in the past five years; license must not be currently suspended or restricted.
  • Willingness to work on-site in Tuscola County, Michigan, and travel as required by project needs.
  • Proven ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and commissioning requirements.

Preferred Skills

Additional experience with high-voltage systems, SCADA integration, or utility interconnection processes is advantageous but not required. Strong communication and leadership skills that foster collaboration across diverse field teams are highly valued.

Why Join Us

This contract assignment offers competitive compensation, a standard 8 AM–5 PM shift, and 40 hours per week.
